...the person below makes it clear just what value Cambria, and other such outfits, are worth. She is at least honest about it. "The Lambert thread got me wondering: what are the least selective presses that still count as real publications (i.e., non vanity)? Let's say I need to get a book out, and my institution doesn't really care where so long as I can legitimately say that I have a book. My concern is likelihood of acceptance, speediness is also good, and I'm not worried about prestige beyond the threshold test that it would be seen as a legitimate (if unimpressive) thing to list on a CV. What publishers should I be thinking of? Posted 3 years ago # wondering Unregistered Cambria ...dear person, Cambria IS a Vanity Press...they just disguise it by not asking for money up front, plus a pretense that they have to "review" your manuscript and find it "worthy". However, you have to agree to buy a set number of books yourself before they'll print anything...and believe me they won't turn you down. --------------------- |
