...I think Blacks made a big mistake allowing themselves to be fooled, no matter how desperate they were to believe, to hope, their nightmare was at an end....but they were wrong and they went along and allowed the white man to fool not only them, but himself as well...."nigger" should never have been driven underground, where it flourishes unseen, until an "oops" moment and weak apology.....when a wound is simply covered over it festers and turns to pus and infection...you have to let the air get to it, let it breathe and you have to keep and eye on it so infection doesn't set in...the infection is here and it is spreading. The same effort to downplay and hide reality exists with the taboo against mentioning Hitler and Nazis, I mean in a meaningful way and not just because you're pissed and can't think of anything worse to say. I mean in a thoughtful and calm and purposeful way, not in the heat of anger....and I'm going to do that more and more. Take "American Exceptionalism",,,what does that really mean....I mean REALLY? ...What did "German Master Race" mean, really? Aren't they both ways of separating from the rest....of claiming a special status for your group? And what did that lead to? When you think you're a Master, or Exceptional, normal laws and behaviors and morality no longer apply to you...those are for other people, you have a higher calling...more is expected of you, you claim, so you can't be held to normal laws for normal people. American Exceptionalism was coined a few years ago, in the aftermath of our illegal and immoral attack on Iraq, a country which had done nothing to us...we changed the rules, we made news ones for ourselves...we were SO important, SO "envied", that we had to take pre-emptive steps...we had to attack those we thought MIGHT attack us one day...sort of like attacking Belgium twice in 20 years....Germans just HAD to do it, on their way to "protecting" themselves from British aggression.....that's right, that was the line Hitler used...the Brits might SOME DAY attack Germany, so Hitler better make a pre-emptive strike and then another and then another. Americans fought WW II not just against Hitler, but supposedly against Fascism...supposedly. But Fascism never died, it just got better and better at disguising itself, of making itself palatable and in the end desirable too...that's the long arc Fascism has been traveling....the earliest versions, like old junked cars, are rotting away somewhere...today we have a newer and more efficient model and its greatest achievement is to appear benign...where Hitler was obviously threatening...who can be afraid of George Bush? Who? --------------------- |
