By any reading of the word "nation"....the modern Assyrians have none...and never did. The ancients certainly did...but their descendants, who melted into the Aramaic and then Judo-Christo pot, never had a nation but were always a part of some other nation, state or empire. People such as Curious show no curiosity about the meaning of words...just how they may pervert them to suit their needs. A thousand times we've defined the word "nation" according to standard, accepted usage...but it does no good...these people are only interested in Aprim's books...not real books. Why would they be interested in the real meaning of words...? As Hanna Hajjar once famously explained..."we have our own dictionary, we don't need your's". Of course the dictionaries at hand aren't "mine"...they belong to the language and the culture...but Hanna, having made up his own definitions, thinks that everyone else must be operating on the same principle...that we too are making up what we "need" to "make a point". That's the reason Maggie can call Dr Naby, George Roux, Dr Joseph and anyone else she needs to a "LIAR!"...because she's a liar and assumes everyone else must be working on the same principle: that it's SO damn important to prove your point, that you can lie, cheat and steal in order to do it...because you are doing important work, national work, religious work...when lying, cheating and stealing are what disqualifies you as a scholar, while sancitfying you as a nationalist, patriot and person of Faith. Oddly enopugh Curious doesn't even know the meaning of the word he's chosen for himself. Unless it's "curious" as in strange and odd...like a curious looking object. But intellectually curious? hardly. --------------------- |
