...I'm sure many of us watching politicians and generals and especially media types wish we could be locked up in a room with any number of them and have a free-ranging discussion on current topics...the media people especially would profit...at least it would be a pleasure to corner them where they can't take station breaks or cut you off...if you ever manage to get on the air with them. These guys are like our own dweebs, like Beth-Shlimon, Aprim and now, sadly, Arrow too: they can just manage to speak their lines, but can face no challenge. They have no second or third line of attack, or even defense. The best they can manage, if they don't lose it completely, is repeat what they said, and then repeat it again...their beliefs and positions are barely skin-deep, with no reserves, no elaboration, no nothing except to cut you off, leave the room or have you thrown out, or go running. It would be oh so simple to blow them out of the water...If the media even tried to ask the hard questions politicians and pundits would just refuse to appear on their programs, viewership would fail, ad revenues plummet and the show, even though hard-hitting and much needed would fail for lack of "guests"...the usual suspects would just stay away, just as our boys do from any serious debate. --------------------- |
