...I was surprised to see Norman say the Rosenbergs, at least Julius, were "proven guilty" when Soviet files were opened after the fall of the USSR. How does he actually know that? I remember hearing that, seeing it printed in the same newspapers at the time, same newspapers which had been spewing lie after lie all my life.....but Norman believed this? In a court of law you have to prove each and every case, on its own merits...you can't simply say, "your honor, this man has lied before, so he must be lying now"...but out there in the world you aren't obliged to "wait until all the evidence is in"...you have to make judgements, for better or worse...and we all do that, we have to. I don't need proof that my government lied EACH time they lied...it's enough for me, as a practical matter, to know they have lied whenever it suited them...and so my lack of trust in them is THEIR fault...not mine. --------------------- |
