..the same objection holds; where is the evidence that the Ottomans had previously attempted to attian such an end? Also, how has their behavior towards Christians since that war provided any proof that this was their object, when on the contrary we see Christians thriving?

..if the attempt had ever been "total elimination" the Turks would have concentrated their efforts on major cities where Christians and their churches were the easiest targets...like the Nazis did at first.
