...way back when we were still able to post at AINA's forum, we used to engage in discussions with Aprim and others....due to complaints, from Aprim, the moderator, Peter BetJassim (nee Betbasso) decided he would moderate a "debate" between David, also known as Tiglat, and Aprim...rules were laid down, no cussing, no insulting and they began....it went badly for Aprim from the start...he withstood David's argument for a few rounds and then someone butted in to say something terribly offensive about David's father....David, being a real person, let it slide but another person, related to David, was offended at this slur against their family and asked the moderator to remove the post, which had nothing to do with the issue they were debating and besides went against the rule of sticking to issues and no personal insults. The moderator, Peter, refused on the grounds that David had brought this on himself by saying things which others considered "insulting"...except he hadn't used any profanity or brought in anyone's father....but, assyrians were indeed "offended" by David's arguments and the fact that their champion, Aprim, was rapidly drowning in his own nonsense, as clealy pointed out by David...and since they felt "insulted" it stood to their notions of "reason" that they could insult David right back...and so, not able to insult him in his ideas, which is where he caught Aprim, they instead chose to insult his dead father, directly, with a slur too awful to repeat...such is "debate" in assyria. ...assyrians might make good turncoats and traitors, but they are no soldiers. --------------------- |
