...he was asked what event made him an activist where religion is concerned...his answer was "9/11"....after that event he became fearful of the uses of religion...it is interesting that his fears were awakened by a crime committed by Muslims...and not the many more crimes committed by Christians...against Muslims, and everyone else.....the wars against Iraq apparently didn't alarm him about the potential for organized violence by Christianity, neither did the Vietnam War, or the Korean War and not any of the incursions into Latin America nor all the countries we have bombed sine WW II, nor, for that matter WW I and WW II, all fought by Christians...he watched all of these take place but it was 9/11 which "woke me up". That was some deep sleep he was in.

It's the old principle of "my shit don't stink, but yours does"...that's all it is, dressed up, in Harris's case with a lot of adult-sounding science and philosophy. Unless you are upset by EVERYONE'S violence, you're just rooting for your team against the other team. Your playing at favoritism, not intellectualism.

He condemns Christian violence, but it is Islam he reserves his worst for...why? What has Islam done in the last 100 years that comes anywhere near to what Christians have done in that same time? He is a man of science and reason, how does he answer that? And if, as a scientist, who looks for root causes, can he not see that something significant has been happening where Muslim/Christian conflict is concerned...does the plight of the Palestinians and the massacres of Palestinians and the theft of their lands have NO influence on Muslims attitudes towards the West? What of the two wars against Iraq, a nation we all admit now had done nothing to deserve such treatment...has that had NO effect on Muslim feelings and actions?

He is a scientist, so-called...if he admits that 9/11 made such a huge impact on his life as to set him off a new path, for him, of confronting religion, an almost new career for him and for which he has become world-famous...can he not concede that something like the slaughter of 700,000 Iraqi babies would have SOME impact on Muslims and might set THEM off a "new career path"?

Come on Sam...science up!
