...after wisdom comes a clown. This is magpie's response... Re: Educating Rita Posted By: Maggie Yonan Date: Sunday, 13 April 2008, at 2:53 a.m. In Response To: Wake up (Rita) Dear Rita, You remind me of a younger version of ME. ....if that doesn't say it all! I used to have these feelings, and in fact stayed away as long as I could from the Assyrian community, trying to work outside and educate myself. It didn't work. ..it certainly didn't. I decided to attend a dance party after twenty years had passed, and even remembered how to dance Assyrian dances. So I got up and danced............... ...all your insight has come from wiggling your ass. I had an epiphany right there on the dance floor. My entire body got goose-pimply and all those sick feelings I used to get in my younger years were replaced by feelings of joy in being with my own people, in that moment of being one with them, dancing to the ancient rythms of my nation, watching the circle get bigger and wind through the hall, all in sync, all in step, TOGETHER. ...obviously Magpie is on her way, once again, to entirely missing the point. I knew right then, this is where I belonged, FOREVER. I didn't care anymore how many illiterate or ignoramouses there are among us, or how many hate-filled and jealous Assyrians there were. None of that mattered anymore. Because it was ME that was lacking the tools with which to change all that is bad and enhance all that was good. That's when I decided to work inside the circle, instead of outside, because the change I needed to bring to my people began with ME. ...in other words she found her true home among ignorant and illiterate people, but it didn't MATTER...she was going to be one with them. And she has succeeded too. We cannot educate the outsiders until we begin to educate the insiders, FIRST. When we have changed from the inside, all will notice the change from the outside. ...missing completely the point of what she pretended to understand. When Magpie meets a person not ignorant or illiterate she immediately feels threatened and has to dismiss her. But, as usual, she only proved Rita got it right. --------------------- |
