...but still, accepting that piece of bullshit for the moment, why would you want to be known as an Ockefeller when you knew all along that it was the same as Rockefeller? After all, the ancient history we are all so proud of isn't known as Syrian history...it is Assyrian history....why, when going to a museum do you not see Assyrian pieces under the name "Syrian"? Why wouldn't all those proud assyrians not have insisted that they were Assyrians all along? Why only after the Euros dug up the artifacts and called the Nestorians "Assyrians" did we switch...even though to this day there are still Suryoyos...who haven't bothered to become "what we always knew we were". And what about the fact that we didn't even call ourselves assyrians but Chaldeans, at first....that isn't even close to Syrian OR Assyrian. After the first missionaries came to us, the Catholics, who coined the name "Chaldean" because that's where they put their first church, the Nestorians broke into two camps, BOTH calling themselves Chaldeans..still no "Assyrian"...we became either Catholic CHALDEANS or Nestorian CHALDEANS...where was the rush to be Assyrian then? That would be in the 16th century...where was the great assyrian identity then? --------------------- |
