...cute that even in this instance we turned to China...to a Chinese sculptor using Chinese stone from China and imported Chinese laborer who weren't paid till they returned to China.....at the time King was alive he was called nasty names by the Chinese....and the style is exactly like the boxy East-Bloc Party members in their ill-fitting suits....in defense the head of the group says they went looking for someone who knew how to work in massive scale and in stone...implying that no one in America could do so, any longer.....that may be because for some part of the sculptor's life China was more socialist and regularly handed out commissions to keep the Arts going...as did the Soviets. In free-market America no artist can afford the time it takes to learn how to sculpt in that realistic style, or to become a master-carver....in this case Socialism made this artist's skill possible....his talent is his own....while in America artists have bills to pay and must adopt "modern art" if only because you can turn out "masterpieces" over a long weekend, in time to pay your free-market bills. The irony of the whole project is total and complete. --------------------- |
