lol...please hear your own words>> Nobody doubted that at one point Assyrians existed<<WTF!! John Speed wasnt revising from a Bible or going back into time. He recorded the present time in the Ottoman Empire and the Assyrian was second. You asked for proof that was not Aprim or religious...you got it!

...no one denies that the Ottoman lands included what was once Assyria....America now consists of lands that were once Apache and Shoshone and Arapahoe and Navajo etc. But no one in his right mind is going to say that a kid born in Tucson today is a NAVAJO because he was born in "Navajo Country"....at one time known by that name.

..Speed knew that the ancient Assyrians existed in that place, long long ago....and people born in that region, that part that WAS Assyria, could be said to have been born in the "land of the Assyrians"...but that did not make them ethnically Assyrian...anymore than the German baby born in Arizona today becomes a NAVAJO!!!!
