"Preserving Iraq's Assyrians: Federalism" We have no power over what Iraq, or Qurdistan, will do. They do not think in terms of "preserving Assyrians"...they think of preserving their citizens, period. Let assyrians do whatever assyrian things they want to do...let them have clubs and dances, picnics and church dinners, no one cares or bothers them, or they didn't until we made it plain how glad we were that Iraq was under attack. As far as Iraq, or Kurdistan, is concerned the Assyrian heritage, the real one, the ancient one, is a part of all their lives and they will be as careful and respectful of that heritage as they were before America looted the country...what they will not accept is that the modern Christian/assyrian identity gives Christians any exclusive rights to that ancient heritage which rightfully belongs to ALL of them, and next the world. They see through this cheap ploy to hoodwink Muslims and no one is fooled but our fools. --------------------- |
