..it's odd that the Assyrians who adopted Aramaic never translated their ancient history and culture into their new language. Take that Turkey Tablet from the 8th century which shows that Syria also meant Assyria...let's concede that point and that 700 years after the fall of Nineveh there were still Assyrians and Assyrian kings and, presumably Assyrian scribes too. By that time also everything was written in Aramaic and not cuneiform, not any longer.

..One would think that these Assyrians would have translated their rich culture into Aramaic....but they didn't. And later, the Nestorian Christians were rightly credited with saving classical knowledge by translating Greek into Aramaic and then later into Arabic, thus saving those manuscripts....why didn't they do the same with their own rich heritage...why did they only translate the works of others and not their own?
