...it's hard to believe but prominent members of the Assyrian community who have begun to petition the American government to fast-track refugee status for Assyrians going through hell in Iraq and Syria are meeting resistance from Assyrians who want the people left there. Why? Because they want there to be an Assyrian "presence" in Iraq...even if it is primarily in the cemeteries and mass graves.

...the thinking is that if Assyrians leave, how can the ones already out make a case for an Assyrian homeland....if there are no Assyrians left, why would they need or deserve a homeland?

..of course all of the ones clamoring for an Assyrian presence in that killing zone would never volunteer for the job themselves....are they crazy?

But, so long as Assyrians are trapped there, leave them...who knows, maybe they and their children will somehow survive and then we can make their lives a hell all over again by having the Assyrians outside Iraq "demand" a homeland in Iraq. Just what Muslims want to hear; a Christian "nation" placed there by force of American arms, surrounded on all sides by hostile Muslim nations, with no access to the sea, whose very life could be snuffed out, either by violence or simply by closing borders and airspace...then what?

These Assyrians are using the miserable ones yet surviving...they want THEM to "Stand up and make a DEMANDSES"...for them.
