...the more they don't. "The United States Minister in Tehran explained the situation to the Department of State succinctly:'The neighboring presence of the Russian power which is ultimately expected to occupy the province[of Azerbayjan] has given rise to a general unrest which since it cannot manifest itself in political revolution, finds its outlet un a religious movement by which it hopes to realize its desires'.” pp 131-132" ...when the Nestorians could not manifest themselves politically, they turned to religion...as a way to gain political advantage. Oddly enough that's exactly what they did, and do, only in reverse, when trying to get some advantage for their religion...like getting a Christian enclave to themselves or, as they put it "politically", "Give us back our assyrian national home"... only this time they are using a political ploy i.e., that they are an "assyrian nation", to gain a religious advantage; a Christian enclave they call, for "political" reasons; "assyria". --------------------- |
