...is that you make less the most severe by attaching under the same term, others which are less horrific...while all murder is terrible, society has to maintain special words for special cases....I realize the temptation for Armenians to say that their genocide was just as bad as the one suffered by Jews at the hands of Christians...and why Jews have to be careful not to offend Christians by claiming exclusive rights to a Genocide, with a capital "G" as they manage to hang onto Holocaust as meaning the big one...after all Jews can never be sure when Christians will go on the rampage again...it wasn´t so long ago that they were...though now they have Muslims attacking Jews because of Christian shennanegins. ..anyway, if we call too many things genocide it loses its stark meaning...and I think there is a vast difference between mob violence, or even some officials acting terribly and government sponsored and sanctioned murder of specific groups..like the United States' targeting Iraqi children through Sanctions and declaring it proudly as an official program...THAT is genocide for sure. --------------------- |
