Maggie sounds good in this article...sound sense...except. Where she says that people must learn to negotiate...by which I think she means no unilateral demands, but compromise....the only flaw, again, is in herself or rather how she runs the place where the rules are up to her...while she commends the Qurds and implies we would do well to learn from them, it isn't a lesson she has learned...which is; to be OPEN to all sorts of ideas, not to ban and delete and only allow what YOU like.....maybe some day. We have become afraid of our own shadow, unlike the Kurds who publish hundreds of official newspapers and debate their problems openly, weighing all sides of the issues to determined how they can improve their lot, and find ways to negotiate with all their neighbors, including ISIS, to achieve their goals. Why aren't we doing the same thing? Oh yeah...we've become impotent and can only scream "Save the Christians" because we don't know what negotiations are, much less what goals we have in mind. We can't keep hating the Muslims, the Arabs, the Kurds, and the Turks and still be able to exist in the Middle East. We can't improve our lots if don't learn to assess new situations forming on the ground to be able to determine how to negotiate our national goals and improve our lots. Since when did individuals who were surrounded by enemies make it in life? We need friendships and mutuallly beneficial agreements to be able to survive and hold our own. We are full of hatred for one another and for other nationalities and nations and we see everyone as our enemy, instead of a potential friend that shares the same interests. We lack the basic concepts for recognizing an opportunity when it presents itself. The Assyrian nation has become another Israel, blinded by religious hatred for our neighbors and calling for the destruction of perceived enemies. --------------------- |
