Listening to MSNBC.....ex-military brass-type guy explaining the Afghan war...

Military Man: We thought we'd go in there for a conventional war, we'd kill the bad guys, the good guys would come out of hiding and we'd go home. We realize now we were wrong. Just like the Vietnam War.

MSNBC: How could we NOT know that?

Military Man: Well we knew it, but we forgot.

Good Lord. Are they joking? We knew but we forgot? Will we "forget" again?

There was nothing conventional about the Vietnam War, much less so than Korea....we wiped out Iraq's army in three days. That was the end of "conventional" warfare there...the rest has been occupation and guerilla war, same as the ten years in Afghanistan where there was nothing conventional.

We know the truth, the administration knows the truth but we keep pretending that "mistakes were made"...or "we forgot"....we didn't forget anything, least of all how to make gobs and gobs of money...which is exactly what Eisenhower warned us about over 60 years ago....war has become the biggest, safest, most dependable and profitable business we have.
