..while it's understandable that people are reacting to the incessant propaganda of this administration...as they did to the thousand yeat campaign against Jews...and that as a result they are especially wary of a legal system that gives accuded terrorists a fair trial and legal protections because this is a "state of emergency etc."...what's alo becomming clear and far more frightening is that people are reacting this way to ANYONE accused of crimes...that if they go free some sort of crime has been committed against THEM... People don't trust the greatest legal system ever devised...they don't think that an innocent person has been PROVEN to be innocent...all they think is that some screw-up in our lax and silly system allowed the person to go free...on some silly technicallity or Constitutional screw-up. This is a disaster waiting to happen...and you can't reverse the trend. Minor things that were college pranks, or normal childhood excesses, things we did as kids ourselves, are now seen as something far more dangerous to peace and security, something we must nip in the bud before things get out of hand...while us old fogeys might think this is a good thing...we may be dismayed when one day our grandchild gets shuffled off to jail by overzealous officials who throught they had our mandate to keep us "safe"...where once those things would have been normal, they'll become crimes. Imagine what would happen to any six-year olds playing "doctor" these days? You're welcome, dear. --------------------- |
