...I get almost physically sick whenever I hear American soldier being called heroes...I don;t know if the other coalition force civilians refer to their soldiers this way, but Americans seem to be consciously trying to foul the truth and history and maybe salve their souls, what they have left, by making these national thugs and their crimes against humanity into something heroic.

Where's the heroism? Where the valor? You see them marching down village streets in Iraq, each man a walking arsenal of weapons and computers and robotics and each with an aircraft carrier within earshot which will send screaming death to protect him should he get caught in a neighborhood street. They kick down doors with abandon, though they make a big thing out of someone behind that door, in a nightshirt, maybe having a gun....they deliberately humiliate fathers and mothers and terrify, yes TERRIFY, small children...they haul away family members to god knows what...these are not soldiers in any acceptable sense of the word...they are armed gangs, pure and simple who are terrorizing civilians....how in hell is that heroic?

And the final nail in the coffin of this hero business is that we all know and have known for years and even from the beginning that there was no justification for any of this...there was no threat, no involvement in 9/11, no nuclear threat, nothing but greed and lust for power...our soldiers stopped fighting an army long ago...their adversaries became frightened fathers and mothers and children....how heroic?

...makes me sick. And to hear calls for a ticker tape parade in New York welcoming these heroes.......well, Nazi Germany would have appreciated the irony...they too were proud of their "heroes".

...are we to forfeit every last shred of decency and sanity by allowing this word "hero", which once had special and specific meaning, to be twisted into its opposite while we too have to bend over backwards and make white black and up down...just so we can be "true Americans"???

This war is an act of shame...of great cowardice as has seldom been displayed...it is a crime beyond belief...and its worst effect is yet to come: we are making ourselves insane...we are perverting thought and word and deed just so we can disguise this awful, obscene, hideous crime, hoping to fool ourselves and the world....this way madness lies, and the American people are not far from it.

And almost impossible to believe we are being fed the same lies all over again, only this time about Iran...can people have such short memories? It was just yesterday we were told, in the same breathless way, that Iraq had "nuclear designs" on the rest of the world....and we are falling for it again??? Well. why not. If these are heroes, then yes, Iran and everyone else, is a mortal threat to us....but in truth WE are the greatest threat we face.
