It's of course necessary for settled civilizations to protect themselves from barbarian invasion. No one is suggesting that all those who attack and seek to destroy a civilization are justified...or should be "understood". But that's hardly the case when poor people turn against their own rulers and oppressors, or against foreigners who illegally occupy their homelland. It isn't the case when Muslims finally fight back against Western powers...such as the United States which is busily killing Iraqi parents whose orphans then have a legitimate grudge and justifiable rage and thirst for revenge. It's not a matter of approving but recognizing that Iraqi orphans are not going to calmly accept the rape and murder of their parents, country and future. Everything admirable and necessary and dignified about human nature tells us that people MUST fight back, defend themselves etc. If America can justify itself and even declare their troops "heroic" for blindly following orders to attack a country which did NOTHING to it and never posed any kind of threat, then how in the name of all that's holy or rational can anyone condemn Iraqis for fighting back vigorously at the nation who DID attack them??? Iraq did NOT Attack America and look at what Americans have done to it. America DID attack Iraq and look at what we call the Iraqi people who merely fight as best they can and with nowhere near the same weapons, wealth or opportunity against their attackers? To accept America's rationale is to scramble what is left of our own brains..it is wrong and foolish and completely contradicts basic reality. The people who attack innocent people, with a great disparity in odds, are the terrorists...those who defend themselves and their children with whatever means they can find are the heroes. And now America is actually congratulating itself for it's "new" approach...befriending the people of Iraq, showing "concern" for their welfare etc. How much more obscene can you get? What would we have said to gift baskets from Nazis? --------------------- |
