....nothing in Iraq. It's a little silly for people who left Iraq to be trying to determine anything in Iraq...especially when they were never in power in any way while there...and while plenty of Christians remained right where they were...proving there was never any "diaspora"...a big word for moving to America to work in a factory or go to school...but we do that, we misuse language to suit our needs and while it gains the interest of similarly weak-minded people, fools no one else. ...the only thing we could have done is to help our children feel some pride in their Assyrian Heritage...not as lineal descendants of Ashurbanipal but as people of BetNahrain...the Cradle of Civilization. But then we run into all the Christian fanatics among us who see nothing to be proud of in any of that history...not until Christianity came and emasculated everyone, as the price for saving them. The antics of our nationalists embarraass far more young people than give pride to them. Alas this "national work" is nothing more than window dressing for people who've not achieved much in life...or who want to crown their achievements by being representatives of an Assyria. --------------------- |
