...isn't that what religion strives to achieve? Could that be the reason science is under attack, because it demands evidence and is fact-based, and religion, which is faith-based and loves the unseen and unknowable, being pushed down our throats and up our students' arses? What a boon to fanatics if people would give equal weight to opinions and facts....as if they were both equally valid...."you believe the world is round and I believe it's flat...those are our opinions and at the same time they are facts that we believe...maybe you believe the world is round because of scientific evidence, and I believe it is flat because of the bible...but we each have good reasons for believing as we do..." Religion doesn't have to prove anything, it just has to believe...that's why science education scares it so...because science is based on observable, testable, facts...whereas religion depends on just the opposite.... No politician can be elected in America, or be appointed to an important post, if he or she does not believe in what CAN'T be proven.....and believe in it fervently. That's pretty scary....but it's great for Terror-Capitalism. --------------------- |
