The religion of Islam is not the issue...the issue is; we attacked an innocent Muslim country, Iraq, whose people never did us any harm and those people, and their supporters, are now at war against us. What does it matter what religion they are....is the assumption that were it not for their religion they wouldn't have minded our attack against them, their occupation and the murder of hundreds of thousands of their children? Which religion would NOT motivate its followers to fight back.....Christianity? Hell, we Christians attacked Iraq even though none of the 9/11 hijackers were Iraqi and even though there was no connection between 9/11 and Iraq...if our religion won't keep us from attacking innocent people, who never attacked us, why do we expect Islam to keep its followers from fighting back against those who attacked them?

If Iraqis were Buddhist then they wouldn't have fought back? If they were atheists they wouldn't have minded? What nonsense to focus on the religion as if that had anything to do with the basic human impulse to avenge a wrong...but what an effective distraction to keep us away from the real issue, which is not their violence but ours! We're the ones who have stepped back into a Medieval world of religious war, of “my God is superior to yours”....Muslims are fighting their fight for quite different reasons. Of course, once you've destroyed a country and a region and all law and order has been shattered, any number of nuts can put themselves forward...we have only to imagine what would happen in our country if all the prisons were opened and civic laws and justice abolished...we would then witness armed fundamentalists of our own taking out their revenge against a society they've been railing against for decades...how many abortion doctors would our Christian gangs like to behead? And what kind of changes in our laws would they like to see forced upon the rest of us?

Iraq and Syria and Libya are the mess they are because of what we did, not because of Islam. And that's the way we WANTED it.
