...is how they respond to Dr Joseph´s book. Otherwise intelligent, even well-educated "Assyrians" find themselves spewing the most idiotic rants about how "everyone knows" that Dr Joseph is a CIA operative trained to "destroy Assyrian identity" and "keep us from unifyling"....and that "everyone knows" that he didn´t earn his doctorate but rather it was "given to him" in order that he might do the American government´s bidding...to counter Dr Joseph they bring us Fred Aprim and other taxi drivers whose self-published "books" they find more appealling because they find reflected in them all the self-serving stories they were fed since infancy. Desperate to find one real scholar they rush forward with Simo Parpola, who is only an Assyriologist and not a scholar of the history of the modern Middle East...imagine what would be their reaction if Dr Joseph was so foolish as to spout off on ancient Assyrian history, especially with as silly a point of view as Parpola has about the derivation of the modern Assyrian identity. Parpola knows where his bread is buttered...he created a research project that leaned heavily on donations from Assyrians...Assyrians more likely to be generous if Parpola also stroked their balls by lending his weight to their errors. Not one, not one "Assyrian", as educated in other fields as he or she may be, can deal intelligently with the facts and SUBSTANCE in Dr Joseph´s books...and this damns them all. It´s also an interesting fact that whereas we always promoite Assyrians and Assyrianism....we refute and insult the ONLY Assyrian among us who has attained Dr Joseph´s standing...among his students, his peers and in the larger community...to keep ourselves stoked on our own nonsense we are forced to cast away a man highly respected by everone and in everything that matters....so desperate are we to believe our own lies that we cut off our own intellectual noses to spite our silly arses.
