Reading the discussion about god and religion, I noticed something arrow and missed. The topic was never which religion is better or true. Defending islam was also never the objective during the debate. Saying that all religions aren't alike is not the same as one being true or better. Even if I say islam is better than christianity, that don't mean it's true nor does it mean I'm defending it. They are all the same as in religions and they all have books, gods, heaven, hell, angels, hereafter, etc. They are only the same in that regard but not same in history. Christianity is unique with its original sin, crucifixion for sins of mankind, being "saved" and more. It is also unique in the way it was spread. This is supposed to be a religion of peace and the only truth, yet it has practiced some of the most inhumane policies and applied every method possible to gain converts. If islam had adopted some of the christian policies, all spanish would be muslim now and so would the portugese and french and others.

Islam never thought about forcing people to convert but cared more for making the religion available to everyone within its rule so they could convert if they chose to do so. If not, there was always the jizya system and this was an option christians never offered to others. I'm sure protestants would have loved the jizya if the catholics offered that and so would the many other christians who saw sharp blades to their throats. Nobody is defending islam but this is history and being honest. Is islam better? Depends what that means. It is a religion after all and based on faith and book just like the rest. One can do without it and the world wouldn't lose anything but weak minded people couldn't go without it or it be like a drug addict first time away from drugs.
