...apparently the law in many states used to be that cops could shoot at someone who was running away from them...after an infamous case went all the way to the Supremes they passed a federal law voiding all such state laws...the new rule was that police could not shoot at someone who was running away from them...that was a few decades ago...but some states didn't take the old law off their books...states like Missouri, fer instance. Reviewing the released Grand Jury transcripts we now know that prosecutors gave the jury the old law, not the new one...and I'm sure they knew what they were doing...it makes a big difference because under the new law just shooting at Mike Brown, as he was running away, is illegal. Don't know if anything will come of this.... But...it shows how subtly the system and its keepers work against Blacks and anyone else they can get away with using tricks on....this is why Blacks don't trust the system, because it's stacked against them even when new federal laws are passed protecting all of us, some whites will use dirty tricks to keep their power intact and their prejudices alive. And now comes the "chokehold" murder in New York...an unarmed Black man choked to death in broad daylight by a cop, backed up by a gaggle of them....will this be deemed justifiable...like, there was no other way to subdue the man than to choke him to death even as he was telling the cops he couldn't breathe? And we're supposed to feel sorry for the white cops because they suffer the indignity of even being investigated....and doubted?? --------------------- |
