A few years back after the Gulf War I remember seeing some footage of Iraqi Arab women, dressed in their long black veils exiting a building and performing "hellholeh"... you know, that loud "kalalalalalala" that you hear at weddings and funerals. After the world trade center attack, I saw a report on the news that the Iraqis (or it could have been the palestinians) were celebrating at the horrible attack, and I saw that same footage from years ago. I'm not kidding, it was the exact same footage. My aunt also remembered seeing that same footage... so it was clearly a lie.
Just a few minutes ago, not only did I hear the media say that "links between AL-Quida and Iraq are being investigated", but that "7 million Iraqis" pledged their support to the palestinian cause and were gathering in Baghdad to celebrate the suicide bombings in Israel. There were men in Keffiahs, women in their black robes, and little dark-haired children, all chanting and the throngs of people were congregating. Now, not only are there probably very FEW western journalists in Iraq right now... but who knows? Maybe that footage was something that was in the "archives" from years ago and it just seemed right to play now??
That's why I usually don't watch the news. The Simpsons is about the only show that I still watch.
Oh well, Fox news is a national network... Americans from all over the country just watched that clip... and probably believed it.
