Americans don't know their own history...Washington and Sam Adams were Traitors and terrorists, to be hanged from the neasrest tree if caught, no trial no nuthin. They don't know one state from another...they understand nothing of the world...to them the people in the next county are strangers and any furher than that is a no man's land. What do they understand about the world and its incredibly rich and complex history? To them a fence from the Civil War is a hoary relic.
It isn't education at all they are dispensing in their schools...especially now that it's gotten so bad even the administration admits they have problems...problems that lead them to drug children and concoct "Syndromes"...as in Attention Deficit...when it's really, "You Bore The Shit Out Of Me Syndrome!"
In so many ways the boys I had at the group home were brighter, more in touch with reality though they didn't know how to negotiate it. Today Huckleberry Finn would wind up in prison and cousin Sid would be president.
