Dear Friend:
This Saturday, February 15, millions of people in over three hundred cities around the world will join together to protest war on Iraq.

ALL TOLD, IT IS EXPECTED TO BE THE LARGEST PROTEST IN WORLD HISTORY.

All signers of the Iraq Peace Pledge are strongly urged to participate. Will you join us--in Chicago, New York, or elsewhere?

Amsterdam, Barcelona, Cape Town, Sao Paulo, Ramallah, Bangkok, New York, San Juan, Toronto, Istanbul, London, Chicago, Manila, Jakarta, Warsaw, Athens, Berlin, Paris, Cairo, Tokyo, San Francisco, Rome, and hundreds of other cities have all coordinated together for this day: "The World Says No to War." TURNOUT COUNTS. Please add your body and your voice to this statement. Please bring your mom, your best friend, your bus driver, your therapist, and anyone else you can find to one of these important actions. Hundreds of thousands of troops have been sent to the Gulf to fight this war. How many more of us will take to the streets for peace?

IN CHICAGO:
We will gather this Saturday at 12 NOON at 2200 W. Devon (at Leavitt), in the heart of Chicago's Pakistani community. This action takes place just 6 days before the "registration" deadline for many Pakistanis in the United States--the same registrations which led to the recent arrests of more than 1000 Iranians in Los Angeles. This rally will have both an anti-war message and protest the targeting of Arab- and Muslim-Americans in the United States. Buses will be available from various places in the city and suburbs. For information, visit www.ChicagoAntiWar.org or email CCAWR@aol.com

Immediately after the Chicago protest, join the Southwest Youth Collaborative from 3-5pm for a Youth Speakout Against War and Racism at Bombay Hall, 2448 W. Devon. All youth (under age 20) are encouraged to speak out; adults are welcome.

IN NEW YORK:
The protest will begin at 12 NOON at First Ave. & 49th St. Buses from Chicago will leave Friday, February 14 at 4pm (tentative) from Columbus and Jackson, behind the Art Institute of Chicago, and return immediately after the protests, arriving back in Chicago early Sunday. Tickets may be purchased at http://click.topica.com/maaaQdQaaVYdvbapRNTb/ For more information, contact Ted Ernst at 312-738-4981 or feb15@chicagohumanist.org

Hope to see you there!

Yours,
Laurel Severns
