The war is still ongoing unknown to those outside the conflict, and i am also outside obviously, but it is ongoing, IRaq did not get defeated. Saddam pulled out of bagdad, he pulled his forces out of the defending cities to regroup and restrategise, which they are still in the process of doiing. If they had not used tanks to smash the US advance like they did which you may or may not be aware of, if they had not employed the multiple rocket launchers, if they had not used rocket propelled grenades and rifles to attack oncoming US soldiers, if they had not attacked supply lines at night constantly, if they had simply laid down their guns, the US would have its way and take over all of Iraq. The difference is being taken over and being free, weapons are a defense, jjust like an axe can become useful when someones family is threatened
