You know what I want? I want a background check on every single US ass-kisser in the Iraqi opposition, NOW. PRONTO! I'm sick of this "we're on your side (wink, wink, nudge, nudge)" bullshit! I refuse to root for some people or groups I have no f*cking clue about, EXCEPT for their ethnicity. That's just great, you know? I mean, just because so-&-so's an Assyrian or whatever, it doesn't MEAN that they're "good people." Bush is supposedly American & looking out for his own people, BUT look how he spits on his own country's poor - even & esp. his own kindred white folk. Ashur! I want details, I want to look these "opposition" leaders in the eyes & know that they're not playing some stupid game, using their own people as pawns to further their own private reasons & money making schemes.
& furthermore - I'm NOT excited about this regime overthrow because it's going to involve the death of so many more innocent civilians, esp. if US planes are going to bomb the hades out of everything again, using "precision guided" missiles. Nothing they pass off as precision guided is that good, & what's worse is that they even acknowledge this in reports when they talk about unnecessary civilian deaths & casualties, BUT NOBODY GETS IT. & if the US gov't is happy w/ Saddam (though they may not say so outright), they're going to make sure that either most of those "precision guided" deaths 1.) occur in the camp of the opposition or 2.) result in more deaths in the camp of the opposition at the hands of Saddam, fueled by his army's anger at the US forces pummeling them. The ONLY regime overthrow I could ever endorse would be a rebellion w/in Iraq by its own people - a majority of them - with a guaranteed democratic outcome & honest leaders & NOT one that's overly dependent on US backing. I don't trust the US gov't because, naturally, it only has it's own interests in mind. It's too powerful & power hungry - they will want some sort of payment, & if a democratic Iraq can't pay them immediately, then they'll back someone else who will - who will give US corporations complete access to Iraqi oil. & what kind of an overthrow is that - to be so dependent on another state?
