I'm sure it's for the best, anyway. Probably Peter will be happy. Have fun, all. I'm sure this year will be just as fun, if not more so, than last year.

Shlama Alli,
Sorry to be getting back to you so late, but I've really busy with registration. I'm sorry to have to report to you that the AANF will not be able to offer a discounted rate for students regarding the registration fee. I know that it may seem a lot to spend $100, however please keep in mind that that includes all of the parties, events, seminars/lectures taking place at the convention center, with the only exception of the Presidential Dinner Banquet on Sunday and the Picnic on Monday. I know that in the past registration was less than $100, however you also had to pay extra for the parties and seminar and other events taking place at the Convention.
I'm sorry I don't have the answer you wanted, however I think you can agree that it's fair to pay $100 to be able to enjoy all events for 5 days.....
Nadia Mirza.

my response:
Shlama Nadia,
Thanks for your time. I am not going to go to the convention, because of the cost. This would have been my first AANF convention experience, & I would only have attended from Friday night until Sunday morning (to keep hotel costs down, as well), not the full 5 days. But I think the whole thing (hotel, airfare, & registration coupled with food, etc.) is incredibly expensive for a student paying for this on her own (spending $550 for a weekend is a bit much to ask of anyone making only a student's salary) & giving up the time she could be conducting experiments in lab. However, thank you very much for looking into this for me. I hope the convention goes well this year. Take care!
